A mentorship-driven project helping experienced seafarers transfer tacit knowledge to newcomers. MARITIME INNOVATORS developed the framework and training logic.

SeaSAFER & ENDORSEME
Two Erasmus+ strategic partnerships:
- SeaSAFER: Simulated accident response training for maritime crews
- ENDORSEME: Addressing seafarer endorsement gaps and mutual recognition
MARITIME INNOVATORS played a key role in design, piloting, and dissemination.

Under MARITIME INNOVATORS, this Erasmus+ project created a rank-based Maritime English learning portal with practical scenarios and assessment modules, widely adopted across Europe.

Mr. Acar founded MARITIME INNOVATORS to institutionalize over a decade of fieldwork and begin leading projects focused on seafarer education, digital transformation, and cross-border certification.
Before founding MARITIME INNOVATORS, Mr. Acar contributed significantly to 15+ European Union maritime education projects. These projects focused on safety, language, automation, and shore career transitions:

Although implemented under another lead partner, the ecolregs.com project was authored by Mr. Acar. The platform, ecolregs.com, earned a 9.1/10 rating from the European Commission and became a reference site for digital COLREGs education.
Mr. Acar became the first Turkish seafarer to complete full-time education and examination in the UK and receive the UK Certificate of Competency. This personal milestone later inspired MARITIME INNOVATORS’ international credibility and mission.

Mr. Acar continued his maritime training at Plymouth University, UK, gaining insight into British maritime academic and operational standards. Mr. Ugurcan Acar, was awarded a scholarship to study maritime education in UK.

The foundation of MARITIME INNOVATORS was laid when its future director, Mr. Ugurcan Acar, was awarded a scholarship to study maritime education in Turkey at TÜDEV.
