The PraC-MARENG project officially set sail with a successful kick-off meeting held in Marseille, France. The event, hosted by project coordinator LAM FRANCE, brought together key partners to initiate this Erasmus+ initiative focused on improving Maritime English communication through e-learning.

What Was Discussed?
During the meeting, partners reviewed the project’s:
- Objectives and strategic rationale
- Intellectual outputs (IOs), especially IO1: SMCP-Based Maritime English E-learning
- Activity timelines, platform structure, task allocation, and roles
- Implementation strategy for collaborative content development
A special focus was placed on defining detailed task specifications for each partner related to the creation of the online learning platform, which will support real-world communication needs for seafarers based on Standard Marine Communication Phrases (SMCP).
Field Visit: Marseille-Fos Port
To complement the meeting, participants visited the Marseille-Fos Port Community, the largest harbor in the Mediterranean region. This site visit offered valuable insights into port operations and provided an opportunity to promote and contextualize the project in a real-world maritime environment.
